We have helped many clients with preparing their Wills, Probate and the administration of Estates, ensuing their wishes are carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner.
We also specialise in providing advice around wider Estate planning, for example with lifetime gifting and trusts, as well as the set up and use of Lasting Powers of Attorney (or a Deputyship Orders, if required).
We provide a bespoke and detailed estimate of costs, including expenses or disbursements that we are likely to incur on your behalf, prior to your confirming instructions. We often offer instruction on a fixed fee basis, where possible, to provide you with certainty. As guidance on the likely fees we have set out some starting points.
Grant of Probate
For a straightforward non-taxable Estate, obtaining a Grant of Probate will cost from £2,200 + VAT and disbursements. Disbursements will include a court fee of £300 + VAT. Obtaining a Grant of Probate takes around 16 weeks.
For a more complex non-taxable Estate, obtaining a Grant of Probate will cost from £2,800 + VAT and disbursements.
To obtain a Grant of Probate on a taxable Estate will cost from £3,200 + VAT and disbursements for a straightforward Estate and from £4,000 + VAT and disbursements for a more complex one.
Administration of Estates
We can offer fixed fees for the administration of Estates, which will depend upon what is involved. We can also provide estimates on an hourly rate basis. As a guide, a very simple Estate will cost £3,000-£5,000 + VAT and disbursements to administer. If the Estate is complex then it can often take 18 months of work to complete the task. Fees incurred in such a case are likely to be around £20,000 plus VAT and disbursements.
Wills
A simple single will would start from £500 + VAT for an individual or £750 + VAT for a couple.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
There is an Office of the Public Guardian fee of £82 per Power of Attorney. In addition, our fees would be £500 + VAT for one and £800 + VAT for one set of both. For two sets of both (health and finance) we charge £1,300 + VAT.
